 Jacob Sam La Rose
Jacob Sam-La Rose is a poet, writer, playwright and educator of Guyanese heritage. A former Poet-in-Residence at BBC London, he is a touring writer with the British Council. His programme of international appearances has taken him as far afield as Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary Art (Finland), Chicago State University, Mylos Theatre (Greece) and the Center of Contemporary Art in Glasgow, amongst others.

Jacob has taught creative writing internationally. He directs and oversees a range of creative writing initiatives, including the London Teenage Poetry SLAM. He has worked in conjunction with the National Theatre, the Learning Trust, Spread the Word, the Barbican and Apples & Snakes to deliver creative writing and educational programmes.

Jacob's work has been featured in Velocity: The Best of Apples & Snakes, Sable Litmag and X Magazine, to name a few.

Jacob has undertaken numerous commissions, including: a poetry film with Lambeth residents, commemorating the 50th birthday of the Royal Festival Hall; Stratford As It Is - a poetry film commissioned by the Children's Discovery Centre (awarded a special recognition by LWT's 'Whose London?' competition); Look Again - a poetry film exploring young Wembley residents' views on their local environment through poetry and movement (awarded Most Original Production by the Festival of London Youth Arts, 2005); and the London Open House project, for which he responded to the architecture of the LSE library through poetry and a live event. He was a featured poet on modern love, a spoken-word tour on love and modern relationships that toured the UK and Europe in 2002 - 03; KIN, a tour of writers, DJs and musicians that toured to 30 venues around the UK in 2003 - 04; and Bringing the House Down, a spoken word UK tour in 2005.
