Khumbulani Mathe
Khumbulani Mathe is a storyteller based in Bulawayo. He trained with the Zimbabwe Association of Community Theatre (ZACT) in 1995 and has since staged numerous storytelling shows in schools, libraries and community centres around Bulawayo.
Khumbulani is a member of the Creative Storytellers Alliance and the Bambelela Arts Ensemble's annual 'Reviving Storytelling' programme, which features during National Book Week and the Zimbabwe International Book Fair.
'I think PIV is a good and unique idea being implemented at the right time. It will identify, nurture and promote hidden talents thus developing the arts industry and community at large. It will give the participants, facilitators, organisers and funders of the project a chance to collaborate, which will boost artists' self-esteem and confidence in their areas of specialty.
Through PIV I hope to share and improve on my skills; to create opportunities within Bulawayo and beyond through networking and collaborations and to lobby for storytelling to be taken seriously as an artform'. Khumbulani Mathe
