Phenyo Gaotlhobogwe
Phenyo 'Phegal' Gaotlhobogwe is a singer, poet and actress based in Gaborone. She entered the 'Last Word' poetry competition hosted by MARC (Musicians & Actors' Resource Centre) in 2006, where she was one of the finalists, winning a poetry recording and publishing deal.
Phegal describes herself as a 'social activist' and her goal is to become a youth spokesperson and advocate for human rights through her art. In her writing she addresses such issues as femicide, poverty, gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS. She has worked closely with the Botswana Poets Association, Exodus Live Poetry and MARC.
