Sithandazile Dube

Sithandazile Dube (stage name Nozindaba Kandaba) is a poet and teacher based in Bulawayo. She has mentored pupils from various schools in poetry, with the Umthwakazi Heritage Trust and directed Inyanda Poetry Club pupils in preparation for the Power in the Voice competitions held in August 2006. She also performed at the Intwasa Festival in 2006 alongside Phathisa Nyathi and Albert Nyathi. Sithandazile writes her poetry both in English and Ndebele.

'First and foremost I really enjoyed the workshop especially meeting with the other artists. As a poet myself - meeting Charlie Dark was quite an experience, I learnt a lot from him and from my fellow artists. The workshop made me discover my strengths and weaknesses both in performance and in writing. My confidence and self esteem were boosted beyond explanation. I am supporting the Power in the Voice project through and through as it nurtures arts at grass roots level. School pupils and young people are going to realise their talents, especially for those who would love to be professional artists as I believe this is going to be their gateway. This project is going to help pupils voice their wishes, fears, dreams and everything.'
