Tebogo Motsie
Tebogo Motsie is a rapper who performs under the stage name Eureka the Coverboy. He grew up in Francistown, Botswana and moved to Cape Town in 2003 to pursue his musical ambitions.
In 2004, while on set at a shoot for a TV documentary, an impressed independent record label executive offered Tebogo an artist-development and recording contract. Tebogo then moved to Johannesburg where, under the mentorship of Struggle Entertainment, he recorded his debut LP Coverboy.
'Growing up in Botswana was difficult due to the lack of support and role models concerning a career as a musician. I am proud to be part of a project which empowers the youth and which is set to change many people's outlook on rap music as a medium for self-expression.
I also feel that local musicians do not have many opportunities to reach the youth at a personal level in their capacity as role models. Power in the Voice gives us the opportunity to have meaningful conversations with the people who look up to us as well as influence their perception of art positively'. Tebogo Motsie
