Power in the Voice beach festivals in Mauritius

On Sunday Tamarin beach hosted the first Power in the Voice beach festival. 

 

Students and mentors working on the project performed a musical fusion of Rap, Slam and poetry to audiences of around 1,500. Special guests including representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sport, teachers, parents and friends who had the opportunity to see the results of months of hard work from the Power in the Voice project. The event was a huge success with extensive coverage from the press, radio and television. Radio stations including Radio Plus and Kool FM broadcast live from the event and radio presenter Linzy Bacbotte and drag artist Mami Clune joined the group onstage much to the delight of the students.

 

A second festival will take place at Flic en Flac public beach on 29 July and will enable the students from the 18 participating schools to network together, share their experiences and most of all have the chance to perform!
