Through discussion with local authorities across London nine schools were invited to participate in Power in the Voice. The chosen schools were asked to pick two Year Ten (ages 14 - 15 years old) classes to take part in the spoken word workshops. Each school entered two teams into the final spoken word competition.


Artists Visit

East-side Education Trust arranged a series of three workshops for each school taking part in the project. These visits took place on a monthly basis between October 2007 and January 2008. Schools will then be able to run their own mini-slam or to devise their own selection process to choose representatives that could be a team of up to five young people. Teams and supporters from each centre were then invited to a final in February 2008.
